Dear neighbors,
We are sorry to let you now that we will not be opening the Woodson Estates Pool for the 2024 swimming season. The board of directors met on Monday, April 15th and came to this decision with an 8-1 vote. Our decision was not made lightly and was done with much debate, thought, and concern over multiple issues.
Last year we only had 50 memberships, which is around half of what we need for the pool to be fiscally successful. As of the writing of this message, we had only six registrations for the 2024 season. In addition to those concerns, there were a host of repairs that had to be made last season and there are some new repairs already required this year.
I understand it’s early in the season, however, we also had to make considerations for the Sharks Swim Team, giving them adequate notice to find an alternate location for their practices and meets.
We have worked hard to make as many people aware of the opening of the pool including mailing nearly 400 flyers to surrounding neighborhoods, opening the pool to the public, and sending multiple communications to our residents and past pool members.
Having a neighborhood pool is a tremendous value and the board is committed to discussing options and hearing ideas on strategies to make the pool successful.
I want to thank the people that have worked at both pool clean-up days, sacrificing a large portion of their weekend for the pool.
All of those that have registered will also receive a full refund on their registration.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns you can reach out to the board by sending an email to woodsonestatesboard@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Schell and the Woodson Estates Board
